2017 Solar Eclipse: Best Places to Watch in Nashville

Everyone is preparing for the first solar eclipse to cross the United States in 38 years! On Monday, August 21st, the moon’s path will cross with the Sun creating a total solar eclipse for 13 states from Oregon to South Carolina.  Nashville, TN is the largest city in the path of the TOTAL eclipse and we’ve got a list of the best places to view it from.

Rooftop Parties

There will numerous rooftop parties throughout Nashville, including ones at Acme Feed and Seed, and the Westin Hotel.  All rooftop parties require tickets purchased ahead of time and are selling out fast if not already.

Water Parties

There’s no doubt the waterways will be jam packed with boats during the time of the eclipse.  Pontoon Saloon will feature a Solar Eclipse cruise and they still have tickets left.  The Nashville Paddle Company will be leading a group paddle viewing on Nashville’s Lake…..

Park parties

The official viewing party put on by the Mayor’s office will be held at First Tennessee Park, home of the AAA baseball team the Nashville Sound.  Tickets are needed for entry to the ball park.

Other public viewing areas include Bicentennial Capitol mall State Park. They have 19 acres of sprawling land so bring your lawn chairs and snacks. 

Radnor Lake will be a popular viewing spot as well.  They are already preparing for the large crowds and plan to close down if they fill up, so get there early!

Nashville’s Adventure Science center will be hosting a 3 day festival in honor of the Solar Eclips. The festival will feature live music and science demonstrations with a viewing party of the eclipse on the 21st.
