This year, the Minnesota state fair is bigger and better than ever. With hundreds of new attractions, competitions, shows and exhibits, there is plenty to see and do during this ten day event. Join us as we take a look at the action.
The Minnesota State fair will run August 25th to September 4th. This year’s theme is celebrating the life and legacy of “Prince”. On August 26th, there will be a day of remembrance filled with live music all over the park; a dance party in the park; a laser light show; and fireworks in the sky featuring the music of Minnesota’s own. Event organizers are asking participants to wear purple in honor of Prince as they celebrate his life.
There are many new events, competitions, attractions and food at this year’s fair. Some of the new competitions include the 4H Meat Grilling Contest. Entrants are asked to prepare locally made meat and will be judged on the taste and appearance of the food, as well as the knowledge of nutritional facts of the foods they’ve prepared. There is also the Draft Horse Barrel Racing competition new this year. These majestic creatures can be found showing off their skills and racing around barrels set up on the grounds’ track.
There are new kids rides, exhibits, crafts, and of course food vendors. Some of this years’ new featured foods include candied bacon donut sliders, spam curds, and deep fried grilled cheese bites plus many many more!
Of course there is also the live music to look forward to at the Minnesota State Fair. This year’s grand stand acts include the following:
