Labor Day Camping around Huntington, WV

Labor Day is around the corner, and we think it is time to start planning your trips! If you are wanting to stay somewhat local, but still have a getaway weekend, this is the article for you. We will list some of the top camping spots in and around Huntington, West Virginia so you can get a jump start on making plans.

KOA: Huntington/Fox Fire

This campground offers RV camping sites, cabins, tent camping sites, rental campers and extended stays. This site can accommodate any size camping unit. You can visit the Blenko Glass Company or take an excursion to the Mountain Lakes region for a great and fun day trip. Plus, there is fishing and bike rentals on site. Beech Fork State Park

This park is located just 12 miles south of Huntington and Barboursville and is a short drive from Charleston, WV, Cincinnati, OH and Lexington, KY. The area is known for recreational boating, fishing and wildlife watching. The lake is known for its largemouth and hybrid striped bass, crappie, catfish, sauger and bluegill. You may also see many varieties of birds, deer, foxes and possibly even an occasional black bear while visiting Beech Fork. For more information, please check here.

The camping cabins are equipped with air conditioning and heat, some also have private full bathrooms and cable TV. Being in a great central location, you can experience Kentucky, Ohio and West Virginia all from one base camp. Plus, the KOA staff can help you plan out your day trips. There are numerous caves to be explored and ATVs available right by the site for your enjoyment. You can go kayaking and fishing at one of the many on-site lakes and ponds.
